Application of air cushion liner in corrugated board printing
to successfully print thin plate on corrugated board substrate, we need to understand the mechanical properties of corrugated substrate, including thickness deviation, crushing strength and plasticity. After carefully observing the corrugated substrate, you will find that its thickness is uneven. This change in size is called thickness deviation. The thickness of corrugated board is mainly determined by the height of corrugation. Because the printing line is closed. Therefore, the printing plate first contacts the top of the ripple, and then it can contact the whole surface to be printed
for direct flexographic printing on corrugated substrates, it usually requires a printing impression of more than 0.005 inch to compensate for this deviation. At the same time, corrugated substrates require low printing pressure, especially when printing thin lines and layered colors. This limits the allowable press amount of corrugated printing
the following table summarizes the measurement results of some commonly used corrugated substrates. Through in-depth analysis of the properties of corrugated substrates, we can understand their impact on corrugated flexographic printing. (a total of eight substrates are selected, and their thickness ranges from 0.068 to 0.261 inches)

if the printing amount is less than the thickness deviation of the substrate, There will be common corrugated lines or washing boards 2 Sample data of safety rope static load tensile testing machine: provide the user with the data pattern of all samples set. If the amount of embossing is too large, it will cause the dot to increase. It is necessary to control the appropriate printing pressure to ensure the fine line and hierarchical color brush effect
cardboard damage strength
if the compression is kept at a level lower than the cardboard damage strength, when the substrate leaves the printing line, it will rebound and return to its original state; If its corrugated wall is bent, that is, when it exceeds the compression limit of the cardboard, the cardboard will not return to its original thickness, or even be damaged
compression absorption
the plasticity of thin hard corrugated substrate is lower than that of thick printing plate, but the plasticity of most corrugated substrates is higher than that of many printing plates. For a typical example, the plasticity of paper plate and substrate are 0.001 and 0.002 inch/psi respectively. When the stamping amount is 0.01 inch, the printing plate and paperboard are compressed to 0.0033 and 0.0067 inch respectively. For thick plate printing, this stamping amount may be transitional, but the air cushion liner with plasticity of 0.007 inch/psi is used. At the same 0.001 and 0.002 inch, the compression amount of the liner is 0.007 inch. It can be seen that using air cushion lining technology, the compression of printing plate and substrate will be reduced, so that the lining plate will absorb a large amount of compression
in thin plate printing, because the liner absorbs the domestic compression caused by printing, the compression greater than 0.010 inch can also be within 1 Range selection: 100N 50kN (optional) used in thin plate printing, and will not damage the substrate. For the old printing press with roller eccentricity and bearing wear exceeding 0.002 inch (0.05mm) runout, the use of liner can make up for its shortcomings
how to choose air cushion liner
the gap between the printing plate roller and the impression roller of most corrugated printing machines is 5 ~ 7mm. If the gap between the printing plate roller and the impression roller is 7mm, the combination of 3.94mm printing plate and 3.05mm liner can be used. If the gap between the plate roller and the impression roller is 5mm, it is recommended to use 2.84mm plate and 2.03mm liner. If 3.94mm plate has been used, and these plates can still be used, 1.02mm liner can be selected
the air cushion liner has a variety of elasticity and thickness specifications. It can be combined with standard thin printing plates at will, suitable for machines with any gap and meeting different printing requirements
identification of lining plate
the quality of lining plate directly affects the printing quality. The following three points should be paid attention to in identifying the quality of lining plate:
1. Springback performance 2. Flatness accuracy 3. Service life
the identification method of springback performance is very simple. As long as you press hard on the lining plate with the tip of a ballpoint pen or nail for a moment, if you find an indentation on the material, the material has poor resilience and should not be used as a printing pad
the flatness accuracy can be measured by thickness gauge or micrometer to see whether the thickness is consistent and whether it is flat by naked eye
the service life is determined by whether the liner has PE film and resilience. The liner with PE film can protect the liner from being damaged, easy to install and paste, and the liner with good resilience is durable and does not deform for many years
the characteristics and functions of the lining plate
1. Reduce the pressure on the printing point and surface, and effectively control the point expansion
2. Avoid cardboard deformation and prolong the service life of the printing plate
3. Allow higher printing speed
4. It has a unique compensation effect for the plate roller with excessive runout, taking the tensile test as an example
5. It has good printability for low-quality corrugated board and can avoid damaging corrugated board
6. Improve the printing grade of old or old equipment. (Shanghai aokeli Printing Machinery Co., Ltd.)
